What’s new for 2022?

The Nissan Altima model was completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, with a refresh that helped bring out its excellence. Nissan now offers more optional driver-assistance technology on the entry-level S and SR trims. These trims previously offered standard forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking only. Other optional advanced safety features that can be had with the 2022 Altima include lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. Other features include glossy-black interior accents and a memory function for the sideview mirrors on the SV trim and up.

Engine

Buyers interested in the 2022 Altima have the option to choose from six different trims: SR, SV, SR VC-Turbo, SL, Platinum, Platinum VC Turbo. The 2022 Nissan Altima is also offered in two different drivetrains, either front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. Standard under the hood of the Altima is a 2.0-Liter four-cylinder engine with 188 horsepower and is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). There’s an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is also paired with CVT and makes 248 horsepower. Only the 2.5-liter engine can be had with all-wheel-drive. The VC-Turbo engine makes the model significantly quicker, with a zero to 60 mph time of 5.9 seconds.

Exterior Features

Standard features of the 2022 Nissan Altima include LED daytime running headlamps (SV trim and up), heated exterior mirrors, impact sensors, splash guards, and alloy wheels. There’s a sunroof that’s available on all trims except the base SR trim as well. High-tier trims such as the SR VC-Turbo, SL and Platinum trims feature chrome accents and a larger variety of available exterior colors. The SR trim is available in Storm Blue Metallic, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Pearl, Glacier White, Gun Metallic and Super Black. The trims that follow include those shades and add the following: Sunset Drift ChromaFlair, Scarlet Ember TintCoat, and Pearl White TriCoat.

Interior Features

On the inside, the Altima’s cabin features a straightforward dashboard complete with user-friendly switchgear. Materials vary among trim levels, ranging from cloth to leather upholstery, but even the cloth options are a significant improvement when compared with the previous-generation Altima. Optional features include ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a power sunroof, and memory settings for the driver’s seat. For a sportier look — from the SV trim and up — buyers can enjoy a flat-bottomed steering wheel with faux carbon fiber accents. The front seats are comfortable, spacious, and offer sturdy lumbar support, while the back seat offers passengers a large bench seat and ample legroom.

Entertainment

Every Altima, regardless of trim, comes with an optional 8.0-inch color infotainment touchscreen display complete with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. There’s even a customizable main menu for a touch of personalization. Upgrades include a built-in navigation system, and a dealer-installed 5G LTE mobile hotspot. Audiophiles will be glad to learn that the 2022 Nissan Altima offers a nine-speaker Bose Premium Audio System that makes the most out of the interior acoustics as every instrument sounds as if it’s hitting from a different angle for a front-row sound feel. There’s even an available Active Noise Cancellation feature as well so that everyone can enjoy a quieter cabin.

Safety Features and Warranty

The 2022 Altima hasn’t been crash-tested yet, but the 2019 model was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Given that the suite of safety features was expanded for the 2022 model year, it’s safe to assume that the Altima will be named a Top Safety Pick again. Every Altima, regardless of trim, comes standard with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist and other advanced safety features are available on the SR trims and up. Only the high-tier Altima trims offer the semi-autonomous drive mode that Nissan refers to as ProPilot Assist.

All Nissan vehicles are covered by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, a 5-year / 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, respectively whichever comes first. The 2022 Nissan Altima has a starting MSRP of $24,750 (plus destination fee).
