Nissan made a splash at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas last month (September 2019) when it revealed the 2020 Titan. Now, the automaker is ready to show off its XD counterpart. As the model year changes, Nissan is simplifying its lineup by dropping the Single Cab and King Cab body styles. Customers will only have the option of an exclusive King Gab body style with a 6.5-foot bed.

The changes on the XD mirror those of the 2020 Titan model, including different and varied grille designs depending on the trim level. The newly-introduced front bumper incorporates LED fog lights and the main headlights were revised to use light-emitting diodes that give the pickup a more upscale look and improve overall visibility. On the rear, the XD features revamped LED tail lights, while the brand offers plenty of tailgate finishes depending on the trim. A first for Nissan is the PRO-4X trim that features a Lava Red finish on all the badges, both inside and out.

Four new coats of paint are also in order for the new model year for the Titan XD, including: Cardinal Red Metallic, Super Black, Red Alert, and Baja Storm. Rounding out the changes on the exterior are new wheel designs that go up to 20 inches in size. Nissan is in tune with pickup customers as the interior of the Titan XD now features a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen display which includes both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities. A built-in router allows up to seven devices to access the web via a Wi-Fi connection (upgrade and data plan required).

Just like on the standard 2020 Titan pickup, the XD features an updated 5.6-liter gasoline V8 engine under the hood. It’s rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, an improvement on past figures with the engine pushing out 10 more horsepower and 19 lb-ft of torque than before. Nissan also replaced the old seven-speed automatic transmission with an all-new nine-speed automatic that provides better acceleration and more linear power delivery thanks to an improved final gear ratio. The 5.0-liter V8 Cummins diesel engine is no longer an option on either of these models.

Other perks for this Nissan workhorse include over-the-air software updates to keep the pickup current and a 12-speaker, 485-watt Fender audio system. For the first time ever on the Titan XD there’s also an optional dual-panel moonroof available. It’s considered one of the largest moonroofs in its class at over three-feet square. The revamped Nissan Titan XD will go on sale in early 2020 and will be available in five different trim levels and four-wheel-drive.
